Shine the light on the wall and set the reference temperature. Reference temperature shows surface deviation from reference temp. Move the light all-around your house. When the temp changes by 1, 5 or 10 degrees F (customer adjustable), the light will modify to red or blue to mean a hot or cold spot. It works well and very easy. It confirmed my suspicions of area in my home that needed additional weather proofing. In addition, identified an area in the ceiling never suspected. Appears insulation in the attic is not adequate in an area and this helped identify the issue.

This product is excellent for determining where heating/air conditioning dollars are escaping from homes. It measures temperature differentials and will identify where insullation need be added. It also will identify where expensive leaks are located so they may be stopped.

I believe the tool is best utilized in extreme heat or extreme cold and instantly shows how to make a home more efficient from heat gain or heat loss. This product does the same job as the infra-red gun TV screens the utilities use to identify problems but different in that it displays information via a digital numerical tempertature read out. Black and Decker TLD1000 information is quality information provided at greatly reduced price.

This device also will read temperatures of appliances, power panels and anything that temperature readings may indicate power usage to identify home power leaks.

We check the temp of everything with this. The window cracks, the doors, the outdoor gas grill, the air vents in the house, the back of the fridge, dishes in the dishwasher, ice cubes, lcd tvs, car engines, anything!
