Calculate the correct size power inverter for your off-grid solar system, RV, or home backup. Correct sizing is crucial to handle both your continuous load (running watts) and peak load (starting watts).
Continuous vs. Surge Watts
- Continuous Watts: The total power used by all devices running simultaneously.
- Surge Watts: The extra power needed for a split second to start motors in appliances like fridges, pumps, and air conditioners. This can be 2-3x the running watts.
Safety Margin
We recommend adding a 20% safety margin (default) to your total continuous load to prevent the inverter from running at maximum capacity, which can reduce its lifespan and efficiency.
