Free Ideal Body Weight (IBW) Calculator
Find your healthy weight range based on your height and gender. We compare 4 different medical formulas (Robinson, Miller, Devine, and Hamwi) to give you the most accurate estimate.
Which Formula is Best?
- Devine Formula (1974): The most widely used formula by doctors for calculating fluid and drug dosages.
- Robinson Formula (1983): Improved on Devine's formula for better accuracy.
- Miller Formula (1983): Often considered more accurate for taller individuals.
- Hamwi Formula (1964): A quick "rule of thumb" used by many dietitians (Men: 106 lbs for first 5 ft + 6 lbs/inch. Women: 100 lbs + 5 lbs/inch).
Is IBW Accurate?
Ideal Body Weight is a general guideline and does not account for muscle mass, bone density, or age. Athletes may weigh significantly more than their "ideal" weight due to muscle mass. Always use this in conjunction with BMI or Body Fat Percentage for a better picture of your health.
