Tool guide
About Screen Tester
Cycle basic colors and patterns to visually inspect a display for obvious pixel or color issues. The test is a browser display aid and does not calibrate or measure the panel.
How to use this tool
- 1Open the tester on the screen you want to inspect.
- 2View red, green, blue, black, white, and any gradient patterns in turn.
- 3Look for spots or bands that stay in the same screen location, then verify with system or manufacturer diagnostics.
How the tool works
The tool changes the displayed pattern through a set of solid colors and gradients. Visual inspection can make stuck pixels, uneven color, or banding easier to notice, but the page cannot query the panel's internal state.
Worked real-world example
A vertical band visible in several uniform colors may point to a display or signal issue, but another cable or source can help narrow it down.
Common scenarios and use cases
Perform a quick visual check after setting up a monitor or when investigating an obvious image issue.
Important details and limitations
Browser scaling, graphics drivers, color profiles, and cable faults can affect the image. A web pattern is not a calibrated test; follow the display maker's troubleshooting process.
Check the output unit as well as the number. If the result will be reused in another calculation, retain full precision where possible and round only at the end. For measurements governed by a technical specification, use the standard and tolerance required by that document.
Frequently asked questions
Does it measure color accuracy?
No. It displays patterns for visual inspection.
Why test multiple colors?
Different defects are easier to see against different backgrounds.
Can it tell whether the panel or cable is faulty?
No. Additional checks are needed to isolate the cause.
