Follow the checkpoints

Move your pointer into each ring in order. This is a simple browser benchmark of pointer movement; it does not identify your device or diagnose hardware performance.

About Mouse Tracking Benchmark

Move the pointer through a set of checkpoints and review time and missed-target counts. The score reflects pointer movement and device/browser behavior, not a standardized motor-control test.

How to use this tool

  1. 1Start the tracking round and locate the highlighted checkpoint.
  2. 2Move the pointer into each ring in sequence, following the target as it changes.
  3. 3Review completion time and pointer misses when all checkpoints are reached.

How the tool works

The page places checkpoints in a browser arena, listens to pointer movement, and advances when the pointer reaches the current target area. It records elapsed time and misses from clicks outside the expected checkpoint.

Worked real-world example

A trackpad and a high-DPI mouse can move across the same screen distance with different hand motion and speed.

Common scenarios and use cases

Compare your own pointer movement on a consistent setup or practice controlled cursor movement.

Important details and limitations

Arena dimensions, pointer acceleration, device type, screen scaling, and browser event rate affect the result. It is a simple benchmark and cannot diagnose coordination or hardware quality.

Check the output unit as well as the number. If the result will be reused in another calculation, retain full precision where possible and round only at the end. For measurements governed by a technical specification, use the standard and tolerance required by that document.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as a miss?

A pointer click outside the current checkpoint can add a miss.

Can I use a trackpad?

Yes, but its movement behavior differs from a mouse.

Is the score comparable between users?

Only roughly, because devices and settings change difficulty.
