Make a Captioned Meme from Your Image
This meme maker adds a top caption and a bottom caption to one image, then exports the finished composition as PNG. It is designed for a quick classic caption layout: the text is bold, uppercase, white-filled, and dark-outlined. It does not provide templates, stickers, multiple text layers, or an editing timeline.
How to use this tool
- 1Choose an image file and wait for its preview to render. The source image's dimensions determine the exported canvas size.
- 2Write short top and bottom captions in the text fields. Each field accepts up to 120 characters; the canvas drawing fits text within the available image width.
- 3Review both captions at full size and check that line length, contrast, and placement work with the image.
- 4Select Download Meme and open the PNG to verify spelling, line breaks, and readability before posting.
How text is drawn onto the picture
The browser draws the selected image to a canvas, then paints each caption in a heavy sans-serif style. White text receives a dark stroke for contrast, and the canvas constrains each caption to most of the image width. The resulting PNG contains the image and captions as one flattened layer; text is not selectable or editable in the downloaded file.
A practical example
A wide 1200-pixel image gives a short caption more horizontal room than a narrow portrait. A long sentence may be squeezed to fit, so a concise phrase usually stays easier to read on a phone.
A reliable workflow
Choose a source with relatively open space near its top and bottom edges. Keep each caption brief, check the preview at mobile size, and avoid covering faces, signs, or details needed to understand the joke. If you publish someone else's photo, confirm that you have the right to use and modify it.
Important limits and checks
- The editor has only top and bottom text fields; it does not support custom placement, font selection, stickers, or multiple caption boxes.
- The PNG is flattened, so revise captions by returning to the original image and exporting again.
- A meme can still be difficult to read on a busy background. The text outline helps but cannot guarantee legibility in every image.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use my own photo?
Yes, choose an image file that your browser can open. Use images you own or are allowed to share.
Can I change the font or text position?
No. The layout uses a fixed bold caption style at the top and bottom.
Why does a long caption look small?
The canvas fits the text within the image width. Shorten the phrase to keep it more readable.
Can I edit the words in the downloaded PNG?
No. Captions are rendered into the pixels. Keep the source image and use the tool again to change them.
What is the export format?
The download is a PNG at the source image's canvas dimensions.
